The Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dentistry, and Medicine programs always receive a much greater number of applications than there are spots available. These three programs therefore have selective admission at all German higher education institutions. If you earned your school leaving certificate abroad and are not a citizen of Germany, an EU country or an EEA country, submit an application for the state examination programs Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine, and Dentistry to JGU.
Winter semester: Mid-May until July 15
Summer semester: Mid-November to January 15
You can find information about the requirements and the application for the first academic semester in the degree descriptions. They also contain information on the required level of language proficiency. Don’t forget that you must have your international certificates officially recognized before you can apply for the Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine, or Dentistry program. In addition, visiting a Studienkolleg or a preparatory German language course may be necessary.
For degree programs with restricted admission, only a limited number of spots are available. In general, there are more applicants than spots. Therefore, a selection procedure takes place, which generally aligns with the minimum grade for university entrance qualification (numerus clausus = NC).
5% of the spots are available for international applicants. Special wait time or hardship regulations do not apply to the 5% quota. The NCs of the past semesters can give you an idea of the NC to be expected for the coming selection procedure.
Start your application for the first academic semester in Pharmaceutical Science, Medicine, or Dentistry through our application platform JOGU-StINe. Make sure you have the certificate of recognition from JGU at hand and, if applicable, have taken the relevant course at the Studienkolleg or the preparatory German language course.
Do you want to apply for the Pharmaceutical Science, Medicine, or Dentistry program on the basis of vocational training completed abroad? In that case, you will first need a valid university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung, HZB) from JGU. However, before you can submit an application for the HZB, your vocational training must be compared with a German reference occupation to determine equivalency. You can find more information here. However, no grade will be determined during that process. To receive a grade, an application for the recognition of international certificates must be submitted to JGU before you apply for the HZB. This process generally takes six to eight weeks. You will need this document with the calculated grade for your application to determine a university entrance qualification. You can only apply for a subject-based university entrance qualification with a grade of 2.5 or higher.
Do you have a valid certificate of recognition, the required language proficiency, and credits that can be counted toward the program you want to apply for? You would therefore like to apply for admission in an advanced semester? Then contact the responsible examination office in advance.
