JGU aims to offer the support you need to successfully complete your program of study whatever your personal circumstances may be.
For this reason, different service points have been created at the university to help you overcome any hurdles you may encounter during your studies.
The Office of Accessibility (SBS) is a contact point for students with disabilities and chronic and mental illnesses. The office advises on topics related to studying, can help out in your everyday academic life, and provides information on disadvantage compensation during your studies. It offers information on accessibility on campus and organizes campus tours for students with visual impairments. Additionally, it can provide a wide variety of technological aids.
The autonomous unit for students with disabilities and chronic illnesses (Autonomes Referat für Behinderte und chronisch Kranke, ABeR) is also available to offer support. For example, you can apply there for reimbursement of the regional transit ticket costs.
JGU offers contact points for addressing psychological problems and for promoting the mental health of its students. You can contact Mental Health Services for Students (MHS) as needed. MHS are available to all JGU students without cost.
Other institutions also offer support in difficult situations, among them the Catholic University Chaplaincy or the Protestant University Chaplaincy. Their advising is available to all students, no matter their denomination, religion, or background.
Are you seeking advice and support because you have experienced discrimination, sexual harassment, or assault at the university?
The Equality and Diversity Office and the Anti-Discrimination Center provide expert support in cases of discrimination, ensuring a safe and private environment for guidance and assistance in finding solutions. In addition to providing advice, the office focuses on developing support services and organizing events on anti-discrimination, diversity and equality issues. We welcome your participation and any suggestions you may have for potential topics.
The diversity strategy has the overarching goal of allowing all JGU members the best possible participation in university processes and the best possible development of their individual potential. We are focused on developing an integrated, diversity-oriented university culture.
Are you pregnant? If you are, you should inform the university as soon as possible regarding your pregnancy and delivery date. Immediately after the university has been informed of your pregnancy, a risk assessment based on the particular course of your studies can be carried out in order to protect you and your child. Find out how to report your pregnancy and which documents you need from the Student Services’ Central Contact Point for Student Maternity Protection (Zentrale Anlaufstelle für Studentischen Mutterschutz, ZASM).
