Have you applied to study at JGU, but the review of your international certificates indicated a requirement to take an assessment test before beginning your studies? Then visit the Studienkolleg<\/strong> of the International Preparatory and Language Center (ISSK) to prepare for your assessment test. You can also find information on the additional assessment test<\/a><\/strong> or the external<\/strong> assessment test<\/strong><\/a> here.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Courses at the Mainz Studienkolleg are held in German and are generally one semester long. The courses comprise about 32 hours a week. The ISSK\u2019s course and vacation dates differ from JGU\u2019s lecture periods and semester breaks.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-heading>\n\n\n\n

First, you will need to have your international certificates recognized. Your certificate of recognition must include the phrase \u201cWe confirm university admission after passing the assessment test (Feststellungspr\u00fcfung)\u201d<\/strong> in order for you to be able to take part in the Studienkolleg. The certificate of recognition is issued by JGU.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n<\/jgu-base-buttonitem>\n\n<\/jgu-base-button>\n\n\n \n<\/jgu-base-alertbox>\n\n\n

If you fulfill these requirements, you can use your certificate of recognition to apply for the Studienkolleg in Mainz<\/a>. Begin by finding out what relevant focus courses<\/a> are offered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n

When applying for the Studienkolleg, you will need to choose a focus course. You can find out which focus course you need for your desired degree program through JGU\u2019s degree descriptions or the admissions offices of the universities or the higher education institutions you want to study at after the Studienkolleg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are different application processes for applying to study at the Studienkolleg. You can apply for just the Studienkolleg<\/strong>, for the additional assessment test<\/strong> or for the external assessment test<\/strong>. In any case, you will always begin your application on our online platform JOGU-StINe<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will start your application\/registration on our application platform JOGU-StINe<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Studienkolleg does not take place in parallel to the university\u2019s semesters, but rather at slightly different times.
Fall term<\/strong>: If you apply for the winter semester, you will be enrolled in the ongoing summer semester. Classes begin mid-August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spring term<\/strong>: If you apply for the summer semester, you will be enrolled in the ongoing winter semester. Classes begin mid-February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that you will need a final certificate of recognition<\/strong> issued by JGU when you enroll. Make sure you have enough time to obtain it if you used a temporary certificate for your application.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Have you already passed the assessment test but the focus does not match your desired subject? In this case, you can take an additional assessment test in the focus area you need.

You can also take the assessment test without attending the Studienkolleg. The assessment test is challenging.<\/strong> You should only apply for the external assessment test if you cannot<\/strong> attend the Studienkolleg for personal reasons or have failed the admission examination for the Studienkolleg with no option to re-sit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the certificate of recognition from JGU, we require proof of German language proficiency (at least at the C1 level)<\/strong> for your application.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

If your application is successful, we will upload your official letter of admission in JOGU-StINe<\/a>. It will contain all of the information you need regarding when and where the examination will take place.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/jgu-base-section>\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

Once we have finished processing your application, we will upload an official notification for you to access in JOGU-StINe<\/a>. We will notify you of this via email. Your official letter of admission<\/strong> will contain information regarding where and when you will need to take the examination.

Information for applicants to the Studienkolleg<\/strong>
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following step is only relevant to those applying for the Studienkolleg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Receiving a place in the Studienkolleg requires a successful application anda good result on the admission examination<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Studienkolleg has a limited number of places. Passing the admission examination does not guarantee a spot in the Studienkolleg. Read the letter of admission carefully to see which documents<\/strong> you must submit by when<\/strong> in order to enroll at the ISSK\u2019s Studienkolleg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n<\/jgu-base-alertbox>\n\n\n

Your official letter of admission will indicate which additional documents we need.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n
