Of course, all components of the state examination required to obtain the license to use the professional title of &#8220;midwife&#8221; are integrated into the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">During your studies, you will attend lectures on the following topics, among others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-big-font-size\">\n<li>Applied midwifery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Microbiology, virology, and hygiene<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Birth assistance skills, gynecology, and women\u2019s health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prevention and health promotion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reproductive physiology and supporting physiologic birth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support during pregnancy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Care of newborns and women who have recently given birth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The midwife-led birth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Surgical care for pregnant women and during birth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pathological\/irregular pregnancies and births<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:60px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\"><strong>Stays abroad<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">A stay abroad is not actually planned in the degree program due to the practical components. This opens up a wide range of career opportunities, depending on your personal interests, skills, and career goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\"><strong>The following are some typical occupations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-big-font-size\">\n<li><strong>Midwife in obstetrics departments of hospitals or birth centers<\/strong> (freelance or employed):<br>You support women during the birth, monitor the birth process, give instructions on breathing and relaxation, offer pain relief methods, and ensure the safety of mother and child.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Freelance midwife or employment in a midwifery practice:<\/strong><br>You offer individual support and guidance. You usually work outside of hospitals and provide prenatal care, obstetric care, postnatal care, breastfeeding counseling, and preventive prenatal care. Freelance midwives can also offer courses and workshops, e.g. antenatal classes or postnatal gymnastics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Training, research, and teaching<\/strong>:<br>Teach future midwives in theoretical and practical subjects and accompany them during their clinical placements.
