Did you miss the application deadline for a selective degree program or receive a rejection letter for your desired degree program? You may still have a chance to be admitted to Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) by lottery.
Similar to other lotteries, at the beginning of the lecture period we draw names from all lottery participants for spots at the university that could not be filled or have become available again. The grade of your university entrance qualification (HZB) and your wait time do not play a role in the lottery.
To be eligible to take part in the admission lottery, you must meet the requirements for your desired degree program:
Summer semester:
Early March to March 31
Winter semester:
Early September to September 30
Summer semester:
Early February to February 28
Winter semester:
Early August to August 31
You start your application/registration on our application platform JOGU-StINe.
It is not possible to predict if or when there will be a lottery procedure for a particular degree program. You can track the current status of the procedure on the “NC Values” pages.
