Have you finished your studies but want to expand on your research? Perhaps you even want to pursue a career in academia? If so, a doctorate could be the right choice for you.

If you would like to obtain a doctorate from JGU, you must register as a doctoral candidate. If you would like to enroll as a doctoral student in addition to registering, please also indicate this in the registration application. You can also enroll as a student after you have already been registered as a doctoral candidate.

You can find more information below under: Apply

You obtain your doctorate under the auspices of a doctoral supervisor.

You obtain your doctorate as part of a structured doctoral program.

You can also obtain a binational doctorate with joint supervision at JGU and at a university outside Germany.
You will then receive a doctoral degree that is jointly awarded by the two universities (co-tutelle de thèse).

JGU offers specific grants and continuing education measures for doctoral candidates.

If you are interested in a structured doctorate, please check the website of the doctoral program you are interested in for information about possible funding.

Please contact Student Services with any questions regarding doctorates.
