Entrance requirements for the Evolutionary Biology master’s degree program are:
Proof of a bachelor’s degree comprising 180 credit points (CP) in one of the following subjects
- Biology
- Evolutionary Biology
- Molecular Biology
- Biochemistry
- Biomedicine
- Molecular Medicine
- Human Medicine
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Forensics, and
- Bioinformatics
from a higher education institution in Germany or a comparable degree from a higher education institution.
Students must have completed coursework and examination credits in evolutionary biology, biostatistics, and bioinformatics totaling at least 27 credit points . Qualifications that were not part of the bachelor’s degree program may also be recognized.
If a bachelor’s degree in another natural science is presented, admission may be granted subject to certain conditions. Any required additional coursework and examinations should not exceed 60 credit points and must be completed within one academic year.
A sufficient level of active and passive English language proficiency enabling you to read and understand English-language specialist literature and participate in courses taught in English is required; this also includes the ability to complete written coursework or examinations in English.
Requirements for Proof of English Language Proficiency
You must take part in and receive a positive decision from a selection interview. The selection interview assesses whether applicants have the subject-specific skills necessary for success in the Master’s program in Evolutionary Biology. It covers various topics in evolutionary biology and their methodological foundations.
If you have not yet received your bachelor’s degree certificate by the application deadline, but have earned at least 135 credits in your bachelor’s program, you must apply by the set deadline with a transcript (certified copy issued by your university) of all coursework and exams completed to date, including your average grade to date.
