With around 30,000 students from 120 countries, JGU is one of the largest and most diverse universities in Germany.

You can find international flair both in the classroom and beyond.

JGU Mainz is a comprehensive university.

By virtue of its 10 different faculties, the School of Music, the Academy of Fine Arts, the Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies in Germersheim, as well as the University Medical Center, JGU covers nearly the entire spectrum of degree programs.

JGU is one of the few campus-based universities in Germany. Its buildings and institutes are not scattered throughout the city but – with a few exceptions – are concentrated on one main campus, which still boasts plenty of space and a relaxed atmosphere.

In addition to the institutes, there are also many options for dining and leisure.

In the summer, the Botanic Garden is a popular meeting place for studying together or hanging out.

With its wide variety of sports and cultural programming, the campus has plenty to offer to help students clear their heads after a day of studying.

From aerobics to Zumba, University Sports features over 70 courses for you to choose from to keep in shape.

In addition to your main program of studies, you can also choose from a variety of supplementary qualifications.

Write for a newspaper, create a radio broadcast, act in the a play, sing in a choir, or create a city tour –

all that and more is possible through the numerous cultural programs and university clubs.

Teaching at Uni Mainz is professionally structured to help you focus on what really matters. The student advising offices of the faculties ensure that everything runs smoothly and serve as contact points for questions regarding course scheduling and registration for courses and examinations. In addition to learning andteaching, research is one of JGU’s core focuses. JGU conducts cutting-edge research in the natural sciences and in medicine. Thanks to its many international partnerships – around 400, in fact – JGU has a worldwide network of research-related contact points.
