Straight from school to university? Would you like to apply for a program of study before you have completed your school leaving examinations? It’s possible! If you are in the 13th grade at a school in Rhineland-Palatinate and will already finish your Abitur in March, you can apply to JGU for the summer semester with your “early Abitur” before you have your Abitur certificate in your hands.

In general, the same application requirements apply to you as to all other applicants.
It is important that you provide the following information in your application:

  • You are applying with an early Abitur.
  • Enter the date on which you complete the application as the date of your university entrance qualification.
  • Enter the grade 9.9 as your final grade, as you do not yet know your Abitur grades.

You are therefore initially applying without a school-leaving certificate. The application with the early Abitur is paperless, so we require no documents from you at the time of application.

The Abitur certificate should be submitted as soon as possible and preferably digitally as a PDF file. It must be received by JGU by the fourth business day in April at the latest.

If you are applying for a degree program with restricted admission, please send the certificate in an email which includes your application number to studsek@uni-mainz.de. After you have submitted your Abitur certificate, you will be admitted to the admissions process. You will receive your letter of admission or rejection in early to mid-April. In the official letter of admission from JGU, we will let you know which additional documents we need from you to complete your enrollment.

If you are applying for a degree program without admission restrictions, upload the certificate in the enrollment assistant. If you have already sent this, please send the certificate in an email which includes your application number to studsek@uni-mainz.de.

The introductory events for first-year students take place in the week before the start of the lecture period. You are welcome to take part in these events even if you are not yet enrolled.
