Before you apply, find out about JGU’s degree programs and the application process for the master’s program.
In order to apply for a master’s degree, you need a master’s degree entrance qualification. Generally, this is a university degree (such as a bachelor’s degree) in the relevant field of study.
You don’t have a bachelor’s degree certificate yet? No problem! If you have not yet received your bachelor’s degree certificate by the application deadline, but have earned at least 135 credits in your bachelor’s program, you must apply by the set deadline with a transcript of all coursework and exams completed to date, including your average grade to date (transcript of records), issued by the higher education institution where you pursued your studies.
In case of international certificates, you will need a formal confirmation of your eligibility to apply for a master’s degree program on your certificate of recognition. You will need the certificate of recognition when you apply for your master’s degree program, as the application cannot be submitted without the certificate. It takes time to have your international certificates recognized, so you should submit your application for the certificate of recognition to JGU at least six weeks prior to the end of the application deadline for master’s degrees.
You can find out whether or not separate proof of your language proficiency is required for your subject of study by checking the degree descriptions.
After we have received your application, we will first check if it is complete. Then, the responsible faculty will examine whether you fulfill the subject-specific requirements for the master’s degree program you applied for.
Therefore, please check the degree descriptions carefully to see which subject-specific requirements you must meet to be accepted into the program of study.
- • specified prior knowledge of the subject
- • a specific level of language proficiency
- • an aptitude test
If you are not sure whether your subject is a good fit, you can ask the responsible academic advisory office directly.
You can start your application on our application platform JOGU-StINe. Keep in mind that selective and non-selective degree programs have different application deadlines.
