Whoever desires to study at JGU in the upcoming semester must re-register by the set deadline. However, there are some exceptions.
Semester abroad (e.g. with Erasmus+):
During your mobility period you still need to be enrolled at JGU, this means you must re-register by paying the semester fee in due time. You can find more information here.
Transition from bachelor’s to master’s degree program
Non-selective admission: If you applied for a non-selective master’s degree program, re-register as usual within the re-registration deadline.
Selective admission: If you applied for a master’s degree program with selective admission and do not need to be enrolled in your bachelor’s program during the first semester of the master’s degree program, wait for the official notification of admission/rejection. Once you have received an official notification of admission, accept the spot in the master’s degree program by submitting the acceptance form and paying the semester fee.
Concurrently enrolled in the last semester of your bachelor’s degree and the first semester of your master’s degree programs
If you want to be enrolled in the bachelor’s degree program and in the first semester of your master’s degree program at the same time, you must re-register within the set deadline.
Waiting for grades when all examinations required for graduation have been completed
If you have completed all of the necessary examinations and coursework by the end of the current semester (September 30/March 31), you do not need to re-register for the upcoming semester. Even if you are not enrolled, your exams can be marked, your grades recorded, and your diploma issued.
Transition from Studienkolleg/German language course to a degree program
As soon as you receive the official letter of admission to the degree program, enroll by transferring the regular semester fee without the addition of the late fee.
In order to re-register for the upcoming semester on time, the semester fee must have been transferred to the university bank account every semester by January 15 or July 15. Therefore, please make the payment in a timely manner. Even online transfers can take a while to be processed by your bank. Please note that the payment must actually be credited to the JGU account by the deadline. The date of transfer or execution by your bank is not relevant.
The semester fee amount may vary, which is why a standing order to transfer the fee is not a good idea.
In individual cases, you may be required to complete further steps in addition to the payment of the semester fee in order to successfully re-register for the next semester. If this is the case for you, a hold will be placed on your re-registration. You can see if a hold has been placed on your re-registration in JOGU-StINe under “Service” > “My rematriculation information” > “My locks.”
